This dual slalom event is not a competition. It is a challenge between you and the clock whereby participants just happen to run the courses next to a rider of like-speed in beginner, intermediate, and advanced waves. The reason for having side-by-side courses is simply to allow more riders to participate and get an idea of rider comparisons.
 |
Each rider is guaranteed a total of four runs, two on each course. During the preliminary heats, the participant picks which course to take and in which order whenever the chosen course is open to ride either Thursday afternoon or early, Friday morning. The slowest time per course will be discarded
The top ten combines times for male, female and kids under 14 per each wave category will move onto the quarter finals. Riders will follow the same method of selecting which course will be run whenever there is an open slot in the allocated schedule, except it is only one run per course. Everyone will know very quickly whether a rider underrated themselves.
The top three combines times per wave go into the finals. At this point, the riders should be fairly even in ability and the times will be close. The Gold, Silver and Bronze winners will be recognized on center stage in Rio Grande Park on Saturday. |
