The Town of Basalt is nestled between the majestic Sopris and Basalt Mountains and surrounded by thousands of acres of wilderness. It marks the place where two Gold Medal fishing rivers come together, the Roaring Fork and the Fryingpan. Even in the wintertime, you will find anglers out in the water testing their skills for catching trout.
Several quaint shop, fabulous restaruants, sporting goods and outfitters stores are available within just a few blocks. You won't find a t-shirt row here.
Twelve or so miles up the Fryingpan Road is another hidden secret called Ruedi Reservoir. This recreation area in the White National Forest offers prestine settings for camping, boating and outdoor activities.
